You will never, in a million years guess what I'm going to be doing tomorrow.
Scuba diving? Nah. Shark watching? No. Cat Wrangling? Maybe. Give up?
I'll be on the road with the instructor I had for my Learners licence written exam, getting a good brush up on what will be important for the 'VORT' (Vehicle On Road Test). I've booked a 2hr session. He'll then get in touch with the guy who does the tests and I will be able to use either Derek's drivers ed car or the test persons car to do the test. It was something I was concerned about because I really didn't relish having to use our car for that purpose. So, hopefully soon I'll be taking the road test and (fingers crossed), I'll get my P-Plate license. This means I'll be able to drive the car on my own but will have to show the 'P' plates in the front and back windows. Winter is coming and it would be a huge help if I could take myself where I need to be at times. So, wish me luck!
I thought of something today that should help remind me that the road test isn't THAT stressful. Years ago, when I lived in Michigan, Mike's parents drove to Michigan from Florida, but found that they couldn't drive their car back again because it couldn't be trusted to make it that far. So, they left the car with us and booked airline tickets home. Mike had to work, so I had to drive them to the airport and see them off. Well, a few things to know up front. They didn't like me. I wasn't sure how I felt about them aside from feeling bad that they seemed to misinterpret everything I did and said (typical in-law behaviour, I suppose). So naturally I was nervous taking them to the airport. I hardly ever had anyone but the kids in the car with me when I drove, and that compounded my nervousness. In Saginaw, there are a few ways to get to the airport (which is sort of out in the country a bit), but no matter which way you travel to get there, eventually you end up on Airport road, which at the time was in really poor condition. Read - bumpy with pot holes everywhere. Mike's Mom had developed a cold during her stay, and had put her back out coughing and wasn't feeling the best. Do you know, they actually accused me of driving down the worst road possible ON PURPOSE. Ugh, I so would not do that intentionally. Ever. So really, after that, any road test I take is never going to be that awful and stressful. I will survive it and hopefully pass too.
I missed aqua aerobics on Thursday because when I got up in the morning and went to walk out of the bedroom, I ended up falling onto the bed. I was dizzy, very off balance (well lots more than usual), and my left ear ached. It was swollen in front of the ear as well. So I stayed home and watched the first of three instructional videos on Dreamweaver I needed to watch for school. It was a good day for passive education. I saw the doctor in the late afternoon and she was suprised by the swelling and ordered an ultrasound of the soft tissue area, looking particularly at the partoid gland. The big surprise was the other ear - it was more infected with more fluid than the one that hurt! So I'm on some anti-dizziness medication as well as antibiotics. I can't get in for the ultrasound until Thursday.
So this morning, imagine my surprise when the whole right side of my face and neck were swollen. It's better now (late evening), so whatever the swelling thing is, it seems to only be a morning thing. Odd, but true. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully nothing interesting as I'm looking forward to a late afternoon out driving around with Derek.
Today was the first Saturday of the month so we met up with the Lunch Group, this time at the Espy (Esplanade Hotel) in Brighton, right across from the beach. We had a nice meal, a lovely view, and afterwards, we gave away bags and bags of apples and pears from our boot (car trunk). Everyone seemed pleased to get the fruit and we were happy it wasn't going to go to waste. We took a walk on the long jetty, and stopped on the way home to pick up our weekly groceries. I let Rod drive home while I walked home so I could get in the walking I missed out on earlier in the day (I'd gone back to bed and slept most of the morning). Not long after I'd come home and had a shower, Rod was sound asleep and didn't wake again until around tea time. He was out cold. I think it's the school hours catching up with him
Speaking of school, my Thursday afternoon spent watching videos proved fruitful... I ended up passing the Session #1 test on the first try. One down, two more to go, on this subject. :-)
