Our New Home at Maslin Beach

On October 1st 2005, we're venturing out into the big wide world and this is our new home. As I type this, we're both a bit disappointed that ADSL isn't available - it was the first thing we'd checked too, but Telstra really let us down on this.

Anyway, the house isn't yet ready to be moved into, but we were visiting today and I took some photos. I missed taking pics of the dining room which we'll be using for our computers, but I'll try to add that in sometime in the future.

You can click on the pictures for a larger view, then hit the backarrow to return to this page.

This is the view of the lounge room you see when first walking in the door, looking to the left.
DCP_5139.JPG
Looking straight ahead into the lounge room.
DCP_5140.JPG
Lounge room from the hall doorway. I've claimed dibs on the loveseat!
DCP_5141.jpg
Small bookcase next to the entertainment centre. I've put my registered Bookcrossing books here so I can easily grab one on the way out the door. That and so anyone browsing the shelf can help themselves too.
DCP_5142.JPG
View from the rocking chair with the front door open. See the window that's behind the entertainment centre? The other side of it is in the hallway leading to the bedrooms.
DCP_5143.JPG
Same view with the door closed.
DCP_5144.jpg
Long hallway to the bedrooms. Rod is in our room trying to get a modem going with the laptop. There are 3 bedrooms, but we only have access to two. The other is for storage. There's another bookcase in this hall, and I think my two will end up in this hallway too.
DCP_5145.JPG
This is the view of the same spot where Rod was sitting. There's a large dresser on the side and on top of it is a new light fixture that will be installed. All of our stuff is in the middle of this room, where the bed will eventually be.
DCP_5146.JPG
A very nice pine vanity. This will be a real joy to be able to use. The wardrobe has one door that's not there, and currently I've hung my terry bathrobe there just to keep it tidy.
DCP_5147.JPG
Another view of our bedroom, and our junk!
DCP_5148.JPG
Guest bed in the Guest room. (Good place for it, eh?)
DCP_5149.JPG
I have a feeling the bedside tables and lamps will end up in our room.
DCP_5150.JPG
More of the guest room. We'll probably use the TV in either our room or the lounge. The lightshade will be installed. It's the same as the one for our room.
DCP_5151.JPG
A dresser in the guest room. And another bookcase.
DCP_5152.JPG
The bathroom (which has just the tub/shower and the sink as the toilet is in a different room). This room isn't as nice, but it's still being worked on. It will have a few new tiles, a new tub and hopefully the sink will have a faucet too. I've also noticed it doesn't have a mirror.
DCP_5153.JPG
This is the only picture of the dining room. Great hutch, but it's full of stuff so while it looks good it's not really something we can use. There's a long table in this room that will be great for conferences with clients, or each other. You can just see an exercise bike behind the hutch, and just after that is where my desk is. It'll be nice to ride the bike and think at the same time. (Or ride and NOT think too!)
DCP_5154.JPG
The breakfast table and kitchen. This is the view from the end of the hallway. The light fixture on the table is intended to go above the table. Very rustic. Rod and his brother Barry are in the background. The doors next to them lead to the laundry room. The small white box thing on the right is our tiny fridge. We're hoping to find a more grown up version to use. A small chest freezer and a cabinet will be going into this area as well.
DCP_5155.JPG
The kitchen work bench. I intend to have my herbs and spices on the back of this. The light that's on the bench will apparently be put in the kitchen.
DCP_5156.JPG
Microwave, kettle, toaster, and the sink.
DCP_5157.JPG
Window looking out onto the deck from the kitchen sink. If you view the larger image, the arrow points to where our ocean view is, which didn't show in the picture.
DCP_5158.JPG
Laundry room. The dryer doesn't work, but there will be a washer put in sometime next week. The white hutch might be used for a pantry, but I haven't decided. The backdoor to the deck is on the left, and to the right is where the toilet is (in a room on its own).
DCP_5159.JPG
Table on the deck.
DCP_5160.JPG
Another view of the table and deck. If you view the larger image, the arrow shows our ocean view, which didn't come out in the pictures today.
DCP_5161.JPG
A lovely shaded area for sitting in the garden. Ignore the tub in the background.
DCP_5162.JPG
Looking down from the deck railing. We're not sure if the rectangle area used to be a built in BBQ pit.
DCP_5163.JPG
Another shaded sitting area amongst the sheds. The round thing is a water tank on its side, obviously not in use.
DCP_5164.JPG
More sheds and another sitting area plus some spare chairs.
DCP_5165.JPG
My clothesline. And I can actually REACH it too! This is just down the steps from the deck, on the right side of the house.
DCP_5166.JPG
The view from the clothesline
looking towards the front of the house.
The van in the background belongs to our landlady.

This is the front of the house.
Interesting colours I know, but I like it as it gives it that beach holiday kind of feel.
And look, our bin matches the colour of the house!
