Glenelg Jazz Festival 26 Oct 2003

On Sunday, 26 October we hopped in the car to go see the mini Field of Women at Henley Beach, but we ended up missing it. Still it was a nice day for a drive, and we ended up at the Jazz Festival in Glenelg, which thankfully this year wasn't blocked off and many parts of it were open to the public. We had a nice afternoon, listened to Bob Barnard and his jazz band. For tea we had our final birthday/anniversary meal with what was left over of our 'mad money' set aside for the occasion. The Oyster Shop in Glenelg has a great deal on SA Prawns - you get 10 large prawns and a container of seafood sauce for $9.99. We got one each and walked back down to the square to enjoy our meal at the tables that were set up.

The photos in the first part of this were from just before Brighton to Henley Beach, and what amazes me is the way the area can be so very different in views and yet we were on the same road pretty much.

Pine trees in Glenelg. The first time I saw these trees, just after getting off the plane, I was amazed by their size. I'd never realised there would be pine trees in Australia.

More pine trees in Glenelg

Adelaide Airport. I was trying to show the Adelaide hills in the far distance.

More from the airport, with the hills in the distance. You can see a Qantas plane taxing

Another view of the hills (these piccies just don't do them justice). This was taken on the way back to Glenelg, from Henley Beach Rd.

Bob Barnard and his Jazz Band. Very enjoyable listening.

Enjoying our prawn meal. Rod always finishes before me, so he thought he'd be clever and take a few snaps. It was a bit windy so my hair was a mess, and yes, there's some purple colour in my hair.

MMMMmmm! And I wasn't sharing, either!

In the square, looking towards town, away from the sea.

Similar to the previous picture, but showing the tram tracks and the eateries along Jetty Road.

Looking towards the Town Hall building, and more towards the ocean.

Looking towards the jetty. The large block with the ship on it is a war memorial (will have to check on its name).

Glenelg Town Hall, on the fore shore. You can see the 'Old Gum Tree' design on the building if you look closely. This tree is still standing in Glenelg and was where the founders proclaimed South Australia a state.

All gone... but it was very enjoyable even though as the sun was setting it was getting very cold on our fingers peeling the prawns. What a nice day. We headed home to watch our auctions end on Ebay.
