June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt

My June 2008 entries for Flickr's Monthly Scavenger Hunt.

Rocking Chair
Rocking Chair I found this chair in my brother-in-law's shed and when I remarked on it (I fell in love with it instantly), he offered to trade me the chair for a chair I had in our workshop that I didn't particularly like. DEAL! The afghan I keep on the chair was a gift of love made for us by Rod's father's girlfriend. It goes perfectly with the rocker. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Second-hand
Koala and "Bald Eagle"
Koala and "Bald Eagle" This photo was taken while I was undergoing chemo for breast cancer. My husband suggested the phrase 'bald eagle' since I'm from the U.S. This photo was taken at Urimbirra Reserve, near Victor Harbor, South Australia. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Zoo
Royal Show - Goat Judging

Farm Stickers
Farm Stickers Wow, I can't believe I found a few quacks for the June 08 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. The other stickers may come in handy for future hunts! Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Quack
Mill and Stream in Georgia
Mill and Stream in Georgia I snapped this photo while I was visiting my sister in Georgia, USA. Added Bonus: Find the goat! After I returned to the car from taking this pic, I looked back and there was a goat in the middle of the stream having a drink. Everytime I see this pic, I always have a look to see if I can find where the goat was when the pic was taken. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Rustic
Gaelyne and Wood Rabbit
Gaelyne and Wood Rabbit Here I am about a year or two old, with a wooden rabbit that my brother Wayne made for me in his shop class. While the wheeled platform didn't last, the bunny itself was a favourtie toy of mine for many years. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category:
4-in1 Instant Fave: All wrapped up in Love
4-in1 Instant Fave: All wrapped up in Love Four Instant Faves in One pic.... I had to send the Instant Fave card to my family overseas so I could get some pics of them with it. This was one that they sent me. In this pic we have my daughter-in-law Jennifer -- definitely an Instant Fave of mine. Then we have my grandson Ricky holding the Fave card -- pretty clever considering he's only six weeks old! Naturally he's a fave of mine, and of course his Mum is his Instant Fave. Last, we have my granny wrap that I wore all last Winter (here in Australia) and sent on so baby and Mummy could wrap up in my love. The story behind the wrap is that last Mother's Day, I decided to splurge and buy my own gifts. My kids live overseas and I don't ever expect or desire for them to send me gifts. I just thought I'd do a little retail therapy... One of the things I picked out was a lovely and soft brown winter wrap that has awesome pockets 'from' my oldest son. I wore it nearly all winter. (See link). Later in the year came the news that I would be a granny in January. So after consulting with the parents-to-be, I sent my favourite brown wrap to them to use when nursing the baby. Sort of like sending hugs along even though I couldn't be there. The wrap will be sent back to me when our seasons change (Winter here, Summer there). That way I can have 'baby' hugs back in the form of wrapping the shawl around me. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: A piece of clothing worth having
Gum Tree on The Strand, Reynella South Australia
Gum Tree on The Strand, Reynella South Australia What fascinated me about this tree is that it had already shed it's bark, revealing a smooth underlayer to the bark. The 'wrinkles' are interesting too. I wonder what happened during it's growth to cause it to have wrinkles. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Gum
Wavy
Wavy This is a portion of the jetty at Port Noarlunga. I'm not sure what I did to get this patterning, but it's cool looking so I'll keep it. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: How did you do that?
Tai Chi
Tai Chi In 2005, I took part in a medical trial for Lyphedema. The goal was to find out what, if any, effect Tai Chi had on Lymphedema. The study involved having weekly measurements taken of our affected limbs and classes on Tai Chi. The results proved that regular Tai Chi improved muscle tone, and reduced fluid in the affected areas. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Motion

Go the Crows!
Go the Crows! Showing my support for the Adelaide Crows footy team. As an American / Aussie, I've learned a few things about being a real Australian. Winter means footy. It's un-Australian not to support your local footy team. Unlike American football players who wear padded protection and are covered head to foot, Aussie footy players wear sleeveless singlets (Guernseys) and shorts with no padding, no helmet. Footy fans are more 'sensible' and dress appropriately for the winter weather with hats, scarves, jerseys, jackets etc that show your team's colours. Footy merchandise is a huge business. Never ever ever say that you root for your favourite team. In Australia, the word 'root' has it has a completely different meaning. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Footy

Handy
Handy I have this neat little round screwdriver thing from Sears on my keychain that my mother bought for all of us kids years ago. It's only been needed a few times, but each time it was needed, it's been a real life saver. The butterfly keychain was a gift from a friend and has my first name and mobile phone number on the other side. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Key(s)
Eerie spider
Eerie spider A really creepy huntsman spider. The photo was taken at night and the flash made the spider's eye show. I don't ever recall seeing a Huntsman's eye. That's just weird. Entry for June 2008 Monthly Scavenger Hunt. Category: Eerie
